- “You need Dysphoria / Gender Dysphoria to be trans / being trans is a mental disorder!”
According to the APA, DSM-5, WHO, and the ICD-11 (one of the most trusted sources of mental health and psychology in America), you do not. {x} {x} {x} {x} {x}
Not all transgender people have Gender Dysphoria, but all transgender people have Gender Incongruence.
“Dysphoria / Gender Dysphoria just means disconnect! It doesn’t mean distress or depression!”
Dysphoria can defined as “extreme sadness” [x] and in the context of “Gender Dysphoria” it is distress related to gender incongruence. Gender Dysphoria is MENTAL DISORDER for a reason. [x] [x] [x] [x]
- “There is no such thing as non-binary / third genders!”
Blatantly false. Non-binary identities have been recognized for millennia by cultures and societies around the world. Even the diagnostic criteria for Gender Incongruence and Gender Dysphoria says “To be of a gender other than one’s assigned gender.” {x} {x} {x} {x} {x} {x} {x} {x} {x}
- “He/Him lesbians / She/Her gay men don’t / can’t exist!”
Yes they do and yes they can. Lesbians using masculine pronouns and gay men using feminine pronouns have existed for a very long time. {x} {x} and so have gender inclusive pronouns. {x} {x} {x} I don’t know why you’d even want to dictate someone’s personal usage of pronouns, but alright.
- “But brain sex-”
Group-level sex differences in single brain features do no ‘add-up’ to create two types of brains, one typical of biological women and the other typical of biological men, but rather that what is typical of both biological males and biological females is a brain comprised of a ‘mosaic’ of features, some in the form more common in biological males and some in the form more common in biological females. {x} {x} {x}
“The lack of internal consistency in human brain and gender
characteristics undermines the dimorphic view of human brain
and behavior and calls for a shift in our conceptualization of the
relations between sex and the brain. Specifically, we should shift
from thinking of brains as falling into two classes, one typical of
males and the other typical of females, to appreciating the variability
of the human brain mosaic” {x}Also, 3G-males and 3G-females (Genetic-gonadal-genitals) have intersex brain and intersex gender. {x}
I will be adding more to this once I find more sources, thank you @critical-lucina for helping me out with this!
