one thing that really RUSTLES MY JIMMIES is how almost every tutorial on how to draw men has a part about their lips that pretty much always boils down to “make them as thin as possible” or “blur the edges until there’s almost no discernible shape to them” and “pretty much just make them as unnoticeable as possible” because people apparently think its impossible for men to have prominent lips?? like???

no!

of all facial features, lips probably differ least in form from gender to gender. they are one of the main things humans look to to differentiate between genders, yes, but the key is in the coloring, not the size or shape – sharper contrast between the lip and the skin reads as more feminine, while softer contrasted, more skin-toned lips read as more masculine.

DON’T be afraid to give your dudes big lips. it is absolutely not a gendered trait, and please remember not to take art advice as gospel, especially when its coming from random people online who may or may not know wtf they’re talking about.
